The Network is opening a new small grants scheme for organisations and groups to deliver monthly events for LGBT people in Southwark

Following our very successful programme of LGBT History Month small grants which has run every year since 2011, Southwark LGBT Network will now be offering small grants to groups and individuals for organising monthly events, projects and activities on behalf of the Network between September 2014 and March 2015.

We are partnered by Southwark Council. The Network is grateful for its contribution.

The maximum grant is £500, but will typically be between £100 and £200.

You are encouraged to seek out supplementary sources of funding.

Events should take place on the last Thursday of any month (except October 2014) from 7pm to 9pm.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, until each monthly slot is filled.

Your project may benefit LGBT people elsewhere in the UK, but there must be a clear and strong focus on Southwark and clear benefit to LGBT people living, working, studying or socialising in Southwark. We are happy for your project to benefit a section of our diverse communities, such as trans people or youth. We are particularly looking for innovative ways of reaching LGBT people in Southwark who may not know of Southwark LGBT Network and may not previously have been involved in organised LGBT events. We cannot support closed social events that do not encourage participation from other groups.

We are looking for event proposals which are creative, including spoken word, music, discussion, film, art, photography, or other creative expression, of and by LGBT people.

We are specifically looking for events on the following themes:

  • A Bi Visibility themed event on Thursday 25 September
  • A Trans themed event which highlights trans creative contributions
  • A photographic exhibition
  • An event focused on older LGBT creative contributions
  • An event focused on LGBT families
  • An event which celebrates the diversity of lesbian, bisexual and trans women's creative contributions

Venues for your event need to be accessible to the widest number of people. We are particularly looking for events which take place in Camberwell, Chaucer and East Walworth wards (with some flexibility on boundaries). For more information on the ward areas please see the polling station map here:

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Please allow plenty of time for preparation of your event. Once the monthly slots have been filled the grant programme will be closed to new applications.

Applications will be considered by the Network's Executive Committee at our meetings on 7 August, 11 September and 8 October and decisions announced as soon as possible after these dates. Please be ready to deal with queries and offer letters during this period.
